We were welcomed cheerfully by Hunter at the front desk and knew we were in good hands. The hotel is lucky to have him. Our room was clean, and everything worked (those are the two most important things). The mini-sink was a great addition to the mini-fridge and microwave. The upholstered bench was much appreciated; it's a perfect place to set suitcases on and access them. The breakfast was superior in quality to most Comfort Suites we've been to. A large array of hot breakfast items and continental breakfast items. To my surprise, the coffee was excellent (and I am choosy about my coffee). The hotel's location was a great launching off place for us to visit Oak Island and Southport.

I’m enjoying my stay at the Comfort Inn Southport. Is the location scenic? No, it is beside a tall highway and surrounded by strip malls, an empty lot with two travel vehicles, and an animal hospital. But the rear area is dedicated to dogs with a spacious walking and relief space that’s mostly fenced, well maintained, well lit, and convenient since they apparently put dog owners on the first floor and there’s a back exit. The room is large, two comfortable queen beds with sparkling white bedclothes smelling slightly of bleach. The carpet looks clean and in good repair. There’s a sitting area convenient for eating and a fridge. The shower is hot and stocked with the usual. Breakfast area has a health rating of 97.5 and this morning had scrambled eggs, sausage links, and hash browns. Three kinds of cereal, two juices, milk, coffee. Types of bread and bagels, waffle maker, yogurt. There were briefly bananas and apples but a basketball team took all that. The hot breakfast was just ok, not spectacular. Despite the slight negatives, I really like this hotel. I feel safe, clean, and comfortable. It’s also close to historic Southport with its attractions. We will remember this hotel.

We stayed two nights and found the hotel to be clean, quiet, and comfortable. The rooms are very spacious and the beds are supportive and cozy. They had a lot of nice extra touches like fresh popcorn and cookies in the lobby and a little care bag for your dog when you checked in with a pet. Since we did stay with a pet, we were on the first floor which made it easy to go to the pet relief area behind the hotel. We did hear other dogs barking during the daytime when someone would walk past rooms, but as pet owners we fully understand that and were fine with it. At night, we had no issues with this at all and overall I would say the walls are thicker than most hotels because the daytime occasional barks were very muffled and we couldn't hear anyone in the occupied rooms on either side of us. I will note that they appeared to be working on the elevators, but since I was on the first floor I can't say whether or not they were not working or just getting routine maintenance. Just another quick note for guests with pets--there are nice areas to take your pet for a bathroom break behind the hotel but because of a busy road and nearby construction there really isn't a place for a proper long walk. I'd suggest the Salty Dog dog park which is about five minutes away if you have an energetic and nonreactive dog that needs to run some wiggles out. The breakfast area was sparkling clean and though it is a typical hotel breakfast in food quality, everything was hot and fresh. The attendants were friendly and absolutely on top of cleanliness and refilling anything that ran low. The location is excellent for visiting lovely Oak Island beaches or charming Southport, and there are numerous restaurants and stores nearby for all your needs. I want to take an extra moment to comment on the friendliness of the staff. Every staff member we encountered was professional and nice--many went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and valued as customers. I spoke with several
